Húsavík is situated on the eastern shore of Skjálfandi Bay. Skjalfandi Bay is an exceptional place. The large mountains that shelter the bay and the rivers that provide it with bountiful nourishment create a natural haven for whales of all kinds. And the bay is alive with whales! 12 different species have been spotted in Skjalfandi Bay during recent years.
